What contract are you on with reference to hours with your employer?


I came across the article: “McDonald’s employees vote to strike over pay and zero-hours concerns” which is a topic that we have addressed historically. The McDonalds employees appear to have united and are keen to try and force a change in company legislation as the burden of low pay and Zero-Hour contracts are taking their toll.

Fire risk and understanding what to do in the event of one occurring when at work should be a priority to all employers and employees. With all the education we have at our disposal now there is a no reason why all members of staff shouldn’t have the knowledge on what they should do to make themselves and others safe in the event of a fire.

I came across the article: “New research from law firm Hugh James raises question over health and safety in the workplace when it comes to fire risk.” (Owen Gough, 2017, http://smallbusiness.co.uk) It goes on to highlight the alarming results from surveys conducted with reference to fire safety, with the outcome being that in the majority of cases, staff don’t feel confident and untrained to tackle the threats posed by fire.
