How vulnerable is your workplace to fire or disaster?

I came across the article: “The troubling fire record of UK recycling plants” which highlights an industry where fires appear to be more common than in the majority of others. It goes on to state:

“There were on average more than 300 fires per year at waste and recycling plants in the UK between 2001 and 2013. In May, 40 firefighters tackled a blaze that burned for two days at a recycling plant near Rotherham. The same month, 24 residents were evacuated from their homes in Manchester after computer parts went up in flames at a recycling plant in Swinton.” (Oliver Balch, 2017, www.theguardian.com)

Have you thought any more about flexible working?


With reference to Employee working hours, Flexible working has been a topic debated for quite some time with the issue it would seem, being organisations are perhaps reluctance to embrace the change from traditional working hours.

“According to a new report from social media training experts Digital Mums, seven in ten (68 per cent) UK employees would like to have flexible working hours but only 12 per cent have asked their current employer for it. From Tuesday the 20th to Thursday the 22nd of June Thinking Software attended Firex to demonstrate MUSTERD our innovative evacuation system, making basic roll call a thing of the past. If you were there, we were pretty memorable in our green uniforms proudly promoting the MUSTERD brand highlighting exactly how the system works.

For us the event was a huge success, where we were able to to see visitors and exhibitors of 2 relevant target audiences for us in the fire safety and security market sectors. With our solution integrating with many of the main Access Control Manufacturers, we were strategically placed between both exhibitions.
