Lincad

Lincad Limited are a battery manufacturing company based in South-East England.

1. Please describe your business:

Lincad Limited are a battery manufacturing company based in South-East England. We develop our products in accordance with UK Defence Standards and US Military Standards and have an extensive experience in developing products where (EMC) electromagnetic compatibility and environmental performance is critical. We also supply directly into other armed forces around the world. As well as designing bespoke batteries, we also supply a range of commercial off the shelf (COTS) products from other manufacturers.

2. How many people do you employ? (number of employees, Departments, Sites where necessary):

We are an SME with around 35 employees. A recent fire caused significant damage to our facility. Business continuity plans kicked into operation immediately, and access to all business systems was swiftly restored with no data loss. As a result, Lincad is now operating from multiple sites including new offices in Farnborough, a new production and engineering facility in Fleet as well as having a separate warehouse space.

3. What are the common problems/issues that you face in your business regarding time & attendance, staff planning and overall workforce management?

Absenteeism can certainly be an issue for us as our production schedule relies heavily on staff attendance to maintain optimum productivity.

4. What was the major driver that made you go out and look for a time & attendance system?

We have always used a clocking in system to manage attendance but needed something new and more up to date to adhere to our Cyber Essentials Accreditation. We were also historically managing holiday requests on paper. The introduction of Rota One means that such requests are now handled electronically which feels a much more modern way of working. Using the software, a manager can see, at a glance, who is taking leave and when, and the reports allow us to track and manage absence and lateness.

5. How has the implementation of RotaOne addressed these problems?

More accurate reports that can drill down into specific staff members and categories mean it’s easier to look at holiday, sick etc. at a glance.

6. What would you say is the main benefit or benefits that RotaOne has bought to your organisation?

The managers of the departments can now independently look at their team rota and forward plan their workload more effectively and no longer agree to time off requests blindly.

7. How helpful do you find the Thinking Software Support Team?

We had some challenges at the beginning but once up and running, things ran smoothly. After the devastating fire at our premises, Rota One were exceptional at helping us manage the system. They were very responsive to emails and actioned all requests quickly and efficiently. At a time when things were very busy for us, they took the stress out of managing the system and found a way of temporarily managing the slots whilst also maintaining our ability to manage payroll accurately.

8. Would you recommend RotaOne to anyone else?

Rota One is a user-friendly system that has been smooth to navigate. We would highly recommend.

9. If you could add a sentence to summarise your experience with us that would be great

A supportive service that’s helped bring us into the 21st century!
